African HipHop Events in New York

Senegalese Hip-Hop legend, Shiffai will be playing at SOBs as part of their International Hip-Hop fest. Shiffai will be representing African Hip-Hop among MCs from France, Germany, Poland and Morocco (among others).

Benny and Shiffai will be chatting up a storm, playing new tracks and talking nonsense (hopefully in Wolof!) on Jan 4th 2004 from 8 PM - 10 PM on Transpacific Sound Paradise with Rob Weisberg. Tune in or stream it later at http://www.wfmu.org. If you're not a geek or don't have DSL you can hear it via radio (imagine that!) at 90.1 fm http://www.wfmu.org
Jan 15th 2004 African Underground Night at the 5 Spot:
Shiffai, Nemiss, The Dug Out, Dola MC, Chosan and Legacy Star will be playing at the 5 Spot in Brooklyn. This is the first showcase of its kind to feature MCs from Africa as well as NYC and will be MC'd by the legendary Toni Blackman. If you're going to make it out to any of the shows definitely make it to this one! It's going to be the most bang for the buck. Plus DJ Eugene Cho is spinning a set of classics to get the part started.
